Stand Up Against Substance Abuse Sussex County, Delaware!

Sussex County Health Coalition is poised to launch a robust Drug Free Awareness Campaign beginning with the city of Seaford and expanding to Sussex County, Delaware. This "Sussex Goes Purple" campaign is in conjunction with the Chris Herren Project and will join forces with Sussex County in this important initiative.

“One of the greatest challenges for people seeking help and in active recovery is the stigma surrounding their addiction. Those struggling should know that their disease in not one that they should be ashamed of, or keep hidden. PROJECT  PURPLE empowers the community to stand up to erase the stigma and to support individuals who need it the most.” — LT GOVERNOR BETHANY HALL LONG

The THP Project Purple Initiative empowers youth to stand up and make a difference. Going Purple gives students motivation and support as they embrace a message of education and awareness. Students learn that they do not need drugs and alcohol to meet life’s challenges; that they are perfect the way they are.

“The Sussex County Health Coalition would like to thank Lucie Hughes from Tidewater Rotary and Sheriff Joe Gamble for their willingness to share in the success of Talbot Goes Purple so that collectively we can impact the whole of Delmarva.  We join them in this important awareness campaign to reduce the stigma of addiction and to spread the message of hope and healing.  To see what they are doing, visit:" —  Peggy Geisler, Executive Director, Sussex County Health Coalition
